Diploma of IT student Songlao Sin, who recently participated in the UTS Insearch Leadership Program, says it has inspired him and helped him learn more about the skills he needs for the jobs of the future.
“I really enjoyed the workshop on the future of work by Art of Smart Chief Executive Officer Rowan Kunz,” Songlao says. “I also learnt about how to adapt to the workplace culture and have professional conversations.”
“Now I know I will need good public speaking skills and the ability to sell ideas if I am to succeed in a career in marketing technology.”
The UTS Insearch Leadership Program is a series of hands-on masterclasses that deliver a fun and interactive learning experience to help students develop new skills that can be applied to both education, career and life in general.
A wide range of current topics are included – such as creating a positive personal brand, the future of work, how to apply workplace culture, deliver presentations confidently and how to develop an eye-catching and engaging LinkedIn profile.
Students also competed to win a work experience placement to put into practice the skills gained from the masterclasses.
“The Leadership Program has allowed me to learn in a context where new ideas and views are celebrated,” says Songlao.
“I would like to take this openness that I learnt in the program to marketing technology, developing an exciting career in marketing something like new energy technologies or stem cell technology.”
By completing the UTS Insearch Leadership Program, students also collect points towards the Beyond UTS International Leadership Development Program (BUILD) which further develops leadership potential through a range of local and global opportunities.
Applications for the Leadership Program are open to students studying English, UTS Foundation Studies or a diploma at UTS Insearch in Sydney.
